Many of you will have heard that Artex and many texture coatings can contain Asbestos. Although this may be a minimal amount it can still pose a danger when the particles become airbourne. This can be when scraping off or sanding. Newer Artex could have been applied to an older infected layer. As such it is poses a danger when exposed to remove.

This has lead us to provide a test for asbestos in these substances. We take a sample and send it to a lab for testing and get a certificate in return informing os that a sample is clear or infected. For each sample we make a small charge of £25.

While even an infected coating has only small amounts of asbestos, the resulting disease this has the potential to cause is horrible and potentially fatal. Taking a test before working on any texture coated ( artexted) area will tell both us and the clients what we are dealing with. The vast majority we have tested have proved to be clear and safe to skim over or remove.
